The German state pension for November 2026 arrives on 30 November 2026 and the one for December on 31 December 2026, each on the last bank business day of the month. If your pension started before April 2004, it comes a month earlier: the January 2027 pension also lands on 31 December 2026. The Familienkasse pays Kindergeld in November 2026 between 4 November 2026 (last digit 0) and 20 November 2026 (last digit 9), and in December between 3 December 2026 and 16 December 2026; Kinderzuschlag arrives on the same day. Grundsicherungsgeld (formerly Bürgergeld) is paid in advance: December's money is there on 30 November 2026, January 2027's on 31 December 2026. Unemployment benefit is paid in arrears, for November on 4 January 2027. When a payment day falls on a weekend or a nationwide holiday, the pension insurance and the Jobcenter pay on the bank business day before, the employment agency on the one after. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are bank business days in Germany.

Three kinds of payment day

Not every benefit has a fixed day, so this site distinguishes three kinds of date and every table says which one it shows. Official dates are published by the authority itself: the Familienkasse for Kindergeld and Kinderzuschlag by last digit, and the German Pension Insurance for the 2026 pensions. Calculated dates follow from a rule in the statute and the bank business day calendar: the 2027 pension under section 118 SGB VI, Grundsicherungsgeld under section 42 SGB II, unemployment benefit under section 337 SGB III. Guide dates appear where the statute only says "in advance" or "during the month": each office pays housing benefit, BAföG and parental allowance on its own schedule.

The difference matters in practice. A direct debit timed for pension day can rely on the last bank business day, because the statute sets it. With housing benefit, leave a few days' margin. For Kindergeld, the Familienkasse itself says there is no right to a particular day, although its published list is still the best basis for planning.

November and December 2026

In November only the month end matters: 30 November is a Monday, so the pension arrives on time on 30 November 2026. For Grundsicherungsgeld, the rule day for November was the last day of October, and 31 October 2026 is a Saturday, so November's money came on 30 October 2026. In December, Christmas falls on Friday and Saturday. New Year's Eve is a Thursday and a bank business day: pension and Grundsicherungsgeld for January arrive on 31 December 2026. Unemployment benefit for December only follows on 4 January 2027, because 1 January is a holiday and 2 and 3 January 2027 fall on the weekend.

2027: what moves

2027 has several month ends on a weekend. 31 January, 31 July and 31 October are Sundays or Saturdays, so the pension arrives on 29 January 2027, 30 July 2027 and 29 October 2027. Easter is early: Good Friday is 26 March 2027, Easter Monday 29 March 2027; both are TARGET closing days when no money is posted. The Familienkasse has already published all its 2027 Kindergeld dates; they start on 8 January 2027.

Understanding payment days

Pension: why there are two payment days

Until March 2004, German pensions were paid at the start of the month, in advance. For every pension starting on or after 1 April 2004, section 118 SGB VI applies: the pension falls due at the end of the month it covers and is credited on that month's last bank business day. Pensions that began earlier keep the old rhythm under section 272a SGB VI and arrive on the last bank business day of the month before. The same applies to a survivor's pension that directly follows such a pension. In practice both groups are paid on the same calendar day; only the month the money is for differs.

On 1 July 2026 pensions rose by 4.24 per cent; the pension value has been €42.52 since then (German Pension Insurance). The federal government sets the pension value for 1 July 2027 by regulation under section 69 SGB VI, by 30 June 2027 at the latest. More under pension increase 2027.

Kindergeld: last digit and Familienkasse

The Kindergeld number has eleven characters, such as 123FK456789; what counts is the last digit. The Familienkasse spreads its payments over the month, digit 0 in the first week and digit 9 from mid-month to the end. Under section 66 EStG Kindergeld is €259 a month per child. For 2027 a government bill proposes €267; it has not been passed yet. Where to find your number and why the digit matters is explained under Kindergeld number and last digit.

Grundsicherungsgeld (formerly Bürgergeld): the new name

Since 1 July 2026 the benefit for jobseekers has been called Grundsicherungsgeld (formerly Bürgergeld); the Bundestag passed the reform on 5 March 2026 and the Bundesrat approved it on 27 March 2026 (Federal Government). The payment day has not changed: under section 42(1) SGB II the money is paid monthly in advance. On application, subsection 2 lets the Jobcenter pay up to €100 of the next payment early. The standard rate for a single adult is €563 in 2026 (Federal Government); no figure has been set for 2027 yet.

If the money does not arrive

A date on this site is the day the payment should be credited under the rule. If it does not come, first check your award notice: the first payment after an application often runs on its own schedule, back payments come separately, and after a change of bank account the day can shift once. If the money is still missing two or three bank business days after the date, contact the office that pays it: Familienkasse, pension insurance, Jobcenter, employment agency, housing benefit office or student finance office. How this site calculates is set out in the method.

Bank business days and TARGET

Transfers between banks in Europe run through the central banks' TARGET system. It closes on six days a year: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, 1 May, 25 and 26 December (European Central Bank). In Germany, Ascension Day, Whit Monday and 3 October are added, when banks do not post. No benefit is credited on any of these days. The pages bank business days 2026 and bank business days 2027 list every day with the first and last of each month.

Common questions

When is the German state pension paid in December 2026?

On Thursday, 31 December 2026. The pension insurance pays on the last bank business day of the month, and New Year's Eve counts as one. If your pension started before April 2004, that same day already brings your January 2027 pension; your December pension came on 30 November 2026. The statutory pension pays no Christmas bonus.

When does Kindergeld arrive in December 2026?

Between 3 December 2026 and 16 December 2026, depending on the last digit of your Kindergeld number: digit 0 first, digit 9 last. The Familienkasse points out that there is no right to a particular day. The tool above shows the exact day for your digit, and the Kindergeld December 2026 page lists all ten.

When is Grundsicherungsgeld for January 2027 paid?

On Thursday, 31 December 2026. Grundsicherungsgeld (formerly Bürgergeld) is paid in advance under section 42 SGB II. The Federal Employment Agency usually makes it available on the last day of the month before; if that is a weekend, it comes on the Friday before. For February 2027 that is 29 January 2027, because 31 January is a Sunday.

What is a bank business day in Germany?

A day on which banks post transfers: Monday to Friday, except the nine nationwide public holidays. Holidays that apply only in some states, such as Corpus Christi, do not move nationwide payments. 24 and 31 December are bank business days. When a payment day falls on any other day, it moves earlier or later depending on the benefit.

Can I add the dates to my calendar?

Yes. The tool above creates an iCalendar file (.ics) with every payment day in the chosen period. It is generated in your browser and imports into phone calendars, Outlook and most other apps. Nothing is sent and no account is created. Each entry says whether the date is official, calculated or a guide.

Is what I enter stored?

No. The benefits you tap, your last digit and your child's birth date are processed only by your browser. Only once you change something yourself does the page write your choice into the address bar, so that you can share the link or bookmark it. Nothing leaves your device.

Why does my money sometimes arrive a day late?

The date is the day the payment should be credited. Some banks only show it the next morning, online banks often the evening before. After a change of bank account, a recalculation or a garnishment the day can shift once. If the money is missing for several days, only the office that pays it can help.
